Forrest Malo

Hello Mass DECA, my name is Forrest Malo and I am so excited to be serving you on this year’s state action team. As a senior at Durfee High School, this will be my fourth year participating in DECA, and I’m thrilled that I’ll be able to bring my experience into our state’s association.

I joined DECA in my freshman year in a chapter that only had about 20 members. Without much direction in such a small chapter, I wasn’t completely sure how to make the most of my DECA experience. However, this changed during my sophomore year, in which I conducted a project that raised over $5,000 in sponsorships to defer the costs of DECA conferences for the members of my chapter. I used this project to compete at states, and I ended up qualifying for ICDC in Sales Project. During my junior year, I became the vice president of my chapter, which had grown to over 120 members. I continued with my work in collecting sponsorships and tripled the amount from the previous year, raising about $15,000 and once again qualifying for ICDC. Furthermore, creating a difference in my DECA chapter has truly been meaningful to me, and I would love to bring facets of my work into this year's state action team.

Outside of DECA, I am a captain of my school’s cross-country and swim team, and I volunteer on the unified track team in the spring as well. I’m also very involved in my community, whether it be helping out at elementary or middle schools, participating in beach clean-ups, or being a part of any locally-based events. Additionally, I enjoy staying active, going to the beach, or hanging out with my friends and family.
I am beyond excited to serve you on State Action Team 66 and I am thrilled to continue the run!
