Xavier Cardoso
Hello Mass DECA! My name is Xavier, and I’m a junior at Sharon High School. I’m heading into my second year in DECA, and I’m beyond honored to be joining you all on State Action Team 68.
My DECA journey began with a simple conversation with my friends, and I immediately fell in love with this community that always sought to help others. That same commitment to helping others is what I want to bring as a State Officer, because equal opportunity for all DECA members stands above all else. DECA is not a finished product; it is a work in progress.
When a chapter can't afford to send its members to compete, we lose the perspective they would have brought into the room. When a student looks around and doesn't see anyone who looks like them, and quietly decides this place wasn't built for them, we don't just lose a member. We lose whatever they would have become. That is why I want to lead in a way that expands opportunity for every member.
I competed this past year in Business Law and Ethics Team Decision Making, placed 6th in the state, and earned a top-3 role-play score. One competition in, and I was already running for state office.
Outside of DECA, I’m a sprinter and jumper on my track team, and I write for my school newspaper. I’m also the founder of a competition-winning startup, and I once had breakfast next to Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost, so if that doesn’t qualify me to lead, I don’t know what does. Oh, and I will die on the hill that LeBron is better than MJ.
I’m so excited to serve you all this year. If you ever want to talk about DECA, ball, or anything else, reach out to me on Instagram @deca.xaviercardoso. Let’s make this a great year, Mass DECA!
